Pottery Artist Herman Oliver

Herman's clans are Edgewater (Tabaahi) and Salt Water (Todik'ozhi).  He invokes his tradition in his pottery by including the Great Eagle Feather, the Great Red Tail Hawk Feather, the designs of daylight and night-time and the four seasons on his peices.  He signs his work Edgewater and Dine meaning The People in Navajo. His two-tone detail etching is the finest we have seen by any local artist and is accented by a third or fourth painted on color during the etching process.  Some of his pieces are hand-thrown as opposed to the more common cast pieces.  They will reflect a correspondingly higher price.
