Collection: James Benally Collector Pieces
JAMES BENALLY was born to the Red Cheek People Clan and lives on the Utah Strip of the Navajo Reservation just south of the San Juan River between the Four Corners and Monument Valley. In addition to creating his highly detailed etched collectors pieces James and his wife Jean have been employed at Cedar Mesa Pottery since 1987. Each of their children have been trained in a variety of painting techniques and have also worked at Cedar Mesa. James signs each piece along with his tribal affiliation Dine or Dineh meaning "The People". James has done a variety of traditional Navajo etched pottery designs along with the more recent innovation of Two-Tone etching. The contemporary geometric patterns draw on several traditional designs including feather, steps, rain and a variety of spiral shapes. Each piece comes with an artist biography card for your display.
