Jack Black - Artist:
Early Life: Born in Galveston, Texas, Black attended the Institute of Design in Chicago.
Career: He spent 20 years creating sculptures for his own enjoyment before opening his first professional studio in Sedona, Arizona, in 1984.
Handmade Technique: He sculpted original pieces from raw clay, used them to create production molds, and cast stoneware figures. Each piece was hand-cleaned, detailed, glazed in muted earth and sky tones, and fired multiple times.
Legacy: His signature minimalist figures typically depict Navajo and Hopi elders, mothers, children, and abstract Southwestern forms. Reports indicate his production molds were destroyed following his death in 2002, making his surviving signed pieces increasingly rare and collectible.

This piece is a prototype produced by Cedar Mesa Pottery while working with Jack Black to expand his market.  The project struggled for 2 years to duplicate his work at high altitude and was eventually abandoned.  This is your chance to have a Jack Black inspired piece without the price tag that may come on originals, if you can find any.
